Carolyn Pratt

Piano & Theory Rudiments

Carolyn began taking piano lessons at the age of 6 and cello at the age of 11.  She holds an ARCT (Associate) Diploma in Piano Teaching from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and a Grade 8 Cello Diploma.

She is a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association (ORMTA)  and the College of Examiners for the Royal Conservatory of Music (Rudiments Examiner).

Carolyn has taught privately since 1983, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Windsor, Owen Sound, and Waterloo. Many of her students have progressed successfully through the Royal Conservatory examination program and Kiwanis Music Festival each year.

She plays cello locally with the Waterloo Chamber Players and the K-W Community Orchestra. 

Carolyn was pianist for a ballet school while living in New Brunswick, and for two years accompanied the Georgian Bay Concert Choir in Owen Sound.  She enjoys working as an accompanist for students performing in festivals, recitals and examinations.  She volunteers as a church service pianist at the Sunnyside Home in Kitchener.

Carolyn moved to Waterloo in 2004 and has been a member of the Sound Factory Music School faculty since September 2010.
