Sarah began piano and recorder studies at an early age, and started
playing the oboe when she was 13. She completed a Masters of Music
degree in Oboe Performance from the University of British Columbia. Upon
graduating, Sarah lived in Vancouver where she taught privately,
freelanced, and was principal oboe with the Kamloops Symphony. In 2006,
Sarah moved to Kitchener and joined the Sound Factory Music School
faculty. During that time, she also became a qualified Music for Young
Children instructor.
When she's not teaching, she works as a professional
freelancer, playing the oboe, with orchestras throughout Southern
Ontario. These include the KW Symphony, Niagara Symphony, Elora Festival
Singers, and Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, to name a few. She has also
worked as a part-time instructor at Wilfred Laurier University. She
loves the diversity her work brings her, allowing her to share music
with people at various stages of their journeys. Outside of music,
Sarah's greatest joy in life comes from raising her two young children,
Sasha and Ella, with her husband Rob.
