Jeanette Bauman has been on a one year sabbatical and returns to teaching with great enthusiasm. She is passionate about sharing what she has learned and enjoys working with all levels and ages.
There is not only “one” way of teaching since there are so many varying personalities and abilities. Developing a love of music is Jeanette's goal in teaching. A strong foundation with beginners is essential in order to give choices for further musical growth in either classical or popular music. Jeanette has a very eclectic taste in music and wishes to pass that on to her students. “Try a little bit of everything and see what you like”. As much as Jeanette loves teaching, she is also a free lance pianist and a music director at a church. “I love communicating through music. There are times when words are just not adequate.” Performing has taken Jeanette to Europe and Eastern Canada. She was the accompanist for the Millennium Choral Organization, Concordia Choirs and Grand River Voices for many years. Jeanette started her piano studies with her mom at age 5. “Mom was with me at every Kiwanis class, exam and recital. She taught me (from the kitchen) every day until I reached Grade 8.” Then she passed me on to local teacher Erhard Schlenker who later became a life long friend. I received my ARCT with him and following that he then insisted that I study with a teacher in Toronto who he felt would be more qualified than he. Upon winning a piano competition, I approached the Toronto adjudicator and asked if he would consider teaching me. I studied with him for a year and then through his encouragement, applied to University of Toronto. I continued studying with him for 4 more years. Upon graduation, I continued my studies with Marietta Orlov. She changed my way of approaching the piano. Without her expertise and golden heart, I would not be this passionate about music." “I have had the opportunity to study with many great teachers and wish to pass on my what I have learned. I look forward to working with you!” |
Jeanette would love to meet you! Let's get started.
