Through fun and interactive games and activities, students will become acquainted with basic musical building blocks such as note names and values, rests, the staff, and clefs. Introduction to composers and music eras (music history) gives kids some added context and familiarity with the music they will encounter as times goes on.
Knowing the basics gives kids the tools they need to understand and apply skills they learn in private lessons and excel when they pick up their instruments again, no matter which instrument they study.
Introductions/Review Composer Time. We start each day exposing students to a famous composer, and the musical era they represent.
Daily Idea & Worksheets: Each day, students look at a new musical building block - Musical Alphabet and note naming, staff, line and space notes, treble and bass clef, note and rest values.
Game of The Day: Finish each day with games related to each day's concepts or review from prior days. Examples include musical Twister, trivia board games (the kids are the game pieces!) Individual colouring and musical games round out the morning.
