We are pleased to announce that we are members of the MYC family. For children aged 2 and up, this keyboard-based approach to early childhood music is absolutely fantastic. In MYC, children meet in small groups, in their own age category, once a week for an hour, accompanied by an adult (parent, grandparent or caregiver) who participates in the program. Children are the center of MYC; their learning styles and needs are met through a multi-sensory approach. The understanding of music will expand into positive problem-solving skills, areas of self-expression, the growth of memory skills and excellent self-confidence and self-esteem. The program lasts from three to five years, depending on the age of the child, with each year typically consisting of 36 lessons. SUNRISE (AGES 2-3) This exciting and innovative pre-school music program teaches singing, rhythm, ear training, pattern recognition, and music vocabulary. Teddy bears are used as one of the learning 'tools'. Stories, songs and games are all included in this carefully developed curriculum. Sunrise differs from the other MYC programs, because it doesn’t include a piano component. SUNSHINES (AGES 3-4) Large muscle co-ordination is developed through fun beat and rhythm games and fine motor development is encouraged through rhythm instrument ensemble playing. By the end of the first year, Sunshine students will be playing in C major and middle C positions on the piano and they will be reading notes on the staff. Pre-reading experiences – such as pattern recognition through the use of colorful visual aids - are also part of the program. SUNBEAMS (AGES 5-6) Songs and games introduce musical concepts, finger numbers, piano geography, and reinforce listening skills. Lessons include large and small muscle movement activities and rhythm instrument ensemble training. By the end of the first year, Sunbeams will be note reading and playing short pieces and scales on the piano, with harmonization, in the keys of C major, a minor, and G major. MOONBEAMS (AGES 7-9) Songs, ensembles, and piano repertoire are designed to support Moonbeam students’ desire for quick results. The listening activities for this age group keep the ears open, even though note reading becomes a primary focus. Music vocabulary, scales, harmonization, transposition, and composition are all included in the curriculum. Upon completion of the MYC program, students are fully prepared for the Conservatory Grade One examinations. AVAILABLE CLASSES MAY VARY. POSITIONS ARE LIMITED AND ENROLLMENT IS TAKEN ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS. PARENT/GUARDIAN PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED. ALL STUDENTS ARE CHARGED A VARIABLE ONE TIME FEE FOR MATERIALS, AND A MONTHLY FEE OF $64. EARLY ENROLLMENT BEGINS IN MAY FOR CLASSES BEGINNING IN SEPTEMBER AND THERE IS AN EARLY REGISTRATION MATERIAL FEE DISCOUNT AVAILABLE. PLEASE CONTACT US FOR FURTHER DETAILS ON COSTS OR PROGRAM DETAILS, AND VISIT MYC.COM. |
