Bruce Gremo is a composer, multiple-flutist, computer-musician improvisor. music educator, sound and recording engineer, concert curator, and music director. As a flutist, he has worked variously as principal orchestra flutist, solo recitalist, chamber musician, band member, studio sideman and session player, and an all-purpose free improvisor. As a multiple flutist he has been a concert performer on the bass and alto flute, alto shakulute, Japanese shakuhachi, bansuri, glissando head joint flute, and Chinese Xun. He has recorded numerous CDs and has performed at international venues such as the Royal Albert Hall Proms Concerts in London England, Lincoln Center NYC with the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, and the National Center for the Performing Arts (AKA the Egg) in Beijing. His musical activity was based in NYC from 1986-2006, and then in and Beijing from 2006-2022, but he has roots in the K-W area having graduated from Laurier in composition. Recipient of numerous awards, he and his music has been performed around the world. His music making ranges from classical repertoire to improvisation, hi-tech digital to acoustic, western to eastern, old to not-yet, functional to ecstatic, auditory to visual. He is a music pedagogy innovator. While in Beijing he worked at a private bilingual IB school where he developed a unique G2-G10 music program oriented to ear-training, composing and improvising.
