Chadd Yaniw is a freelance pianist and cellist in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. His extensive performances in Alberta and Ontario include orchestral, chamber, and solo experience. Starting at a very early age, Chadd was a cellist with the Edmonton Public Schools Singing Strings Orchestra, and with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra under the well known pianist and conductor Michael Massey. Mr. Yaniw has performed with the Waterloo Chamber Players, the Young Artists Performance Academy Chamber Orchestra of the Royal Conservatory (Toronto), the Stratford Civic Orchestra, and for two full seasons in the cello section of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra. Chadd was also a member of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra for two years, and in 2009 was accepted into the cello section of the prestigious National Youth Orchestra of Canada for its Juno award-winning tour across Ontario and Quebec – all under maestro Alain Trudel. He has been granted Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto (ARCT) performance diplomas in both cello and piano, and has won numerous local music festival awards in both instruments. Chadd teaches cello and piano lessons in Waterloo.
Chadd Yaniw began his musical studies in his hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, studying cello with Ronda Metzies, Colin Ryan and Tanya Prochazka; he studied piano with Bonnie Mounsef and Corey Hamm. He moved to Waterloo in 2001, and continued his cello and piano studies with John Helmers and Raymond Yundt. Subsequently, his major cello teachers have included Hector Vasquez, Paul Widner, and Thomas Wiebe; he has also performed in masterclasses for and had private lessons with Lawrence Lesser, Shauna Rolston and Roman Borys. Chadd recently studied piano with Leslie Kinton, and plans to pursue further education in music. Chadd began teaching at the Sound Factory Music School in the fall of 2015. |
