Elizabeth has been described as a very patient and kind teacher. She loves to help students achieve their personal music goals. To discover the best path to help a student, she works to find the methods that work for them. She’s happy to be creative in the teaching process. She enjoys seeing a student become more confident and knowledgeable in their skills but most importantly, she’s happy to see them experience the joy and love of becoming a musician.
Elizabeth has many years of experience working with a wide variety of students, including those with special needs. She has worked with students as young as three years old up to the wonderful age of 72 years. Each age brings a different experience to the learning situation. Elizabeth had her own home studio for over twenty years and has also taught at several professional studios in Waterloo Region, guiding countless students toward a variety of personal goals, from RCM exams to preparing for auditions and performances. She is passionate about music and loves to challenge herself with new music projects. Elizabeth is classically trained through the Royal Conservatory of Music, has a Bachelor of Arts, (UWO), and a Certificate in Arts and Cultural Management. (Macewan University). This certificate allowed her to gain skills in music management. Elizabeth enjoys using her skills in public performance and performs regularly, in the communities of Stratford, Tavistock, and Kitchener, including a weekly interactive program for seniors in the Heritage ward at Greenwood Court in Stratford, Ontario. She has performed as a vocalist at various fundraisers: “Lunch with Emily”, “Chick-a-Palooza”, for KidsAbility, and Sunshine Foundation. She has also been involved in choirs and community musicals in Stratford and New Hamburg. For ten years, Elizabeth managed an a cappella Victorian carolling group, Hollynotes Singers, which performed regularly in Stratford and St. Mary's. They were happy to also provide music at fundraisers in Stratford. They’ve had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols on Stratford 107.1 CJCS, at Stratford Festival Theatre, Greenwood Court Auditorium, for Stratford City Centre, as well as other locations. Elizabeth believes that learning music never has to end. Over the years, she has challenged herself to keep learning and growing. In the process, she has fallen in love with the autoharp, ukulele, and banjolele, and enjoys performing folk music, singing and playing these instruments, as well as, the piano. Elizabeth enjoys sharing her love of music and looks forward to working with each new student. As the student learns, she also learns. Elizabeth joined the Sound Factory team in the summer of 2024. |
