Kevin Galuszka began his musical journey at a young age with piano lessons. He was trained in the RCM curriculum, performed at recitals, placed in top positions at festivals, and earned scholarships through Merriam School of Music. As a teenager, the love for rock and metal music drove him to explore the guitar and join a band, experimenting with home recording, composing original music and eventually performing all across the greater Toronto area and winning various battle of the bands contests.
Kevin continued classical piano and theory studies at York University with professor Karen Rymal, as well as exploring improvisation with Casey Sokol and jazz with Steve Koven. During this time he also began learning to play the Bansuri, a bamboo flute from North India. He appreciates all styles of music from pop to blues, R&B, reggae, progressive rock, folk, country, and especially loves creating his own cover arrangements of his favorite songs. After completing his bachelor's degree, he made a few trips to different regions of the Amazon jungle of Peru, where he experienced the profound therapeutic power that music and nature have on the body, mind, and spirit. Kevin has been teaching piano for over 10 years, encouraging students to be creative, improvise, develop their listening abilities and most of all, learn to love practicing. He is passionate about sharing the joy of learning music so that it may become a lifelong love for you the way it has been for him. Kevin began teaching at the Sound Factory Music School in the summer of 2025. |
