A pupil of world-renowned piping instructor and Master player, (the late) Pipe-Major Ed Neigh, Pipe-Major Dylan Whittemore is a decorated Professional solo competitor in the Canadian circuit, in the United States and in Scotland, and has won numerous awards and prizes across North America and in Scotland. As a grade 1 soloist Dylan competed in the prestigious Nicol Brown Invitational competition in Albany, NY, and finished 2nd overall, and won the Piobaireachd at the (equally prestigious) George Sherriff Memorial Invitational in Hamilton, ON. He was a member of the 3 time North American Grade 1 Champion Peel Regional Police Pipe Band, and as Pipe-Major, brought the Paris-Port Dover Pipe Band to Grade 2 after leading the band to the PPBSO grade 3 Champions Supreme title in 2013. He has also performed at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Dylan continues to rank among the top musicians in North American Piping and is carving a respected reputation as a Pipe-Major, seen as an up-and-coming personality in the piping world.
Dylan has worked extensively with aspiring pipers of all levels and abilities. He plays professionally, performing for Highland Dance competitions, private functions, cultural events, occasions, and festivals across Canada. Most notably, he was a featured soloist in the 2015 show "Scottish Tattoo: The Music of Scotland", staged at the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts in Toronto, ON., and has appeared on stage along-side Sir Paul McCartney during his Toronto performances at the Air Canada Centre in 2010. Dylan's top level playing ability and thoughtful, individual approach to each of his students is quickly giving him a reputation as a sought after He has taught bagpipes at the Sound Factory Music School since Winter, 2010/11. |
