Shae-Lynn is a violinist, pianist, and flautist from Clarenville, Newfoundland who began her musical journey at the age of five. After first learning piano, she quickly expanded her studies to include violin and flute. Her early passion for music was recognized at the Kiwanis Music Festival of Clarenville, earning her two Junior Rosebowls and two Senior Rosebowls. During this time, she also participated in music festivals such as the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music and Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival. During her undergraduate degree at Memorial University, she studied with Nancy Dahn, Jennifer Johnson, and Lynn Kuo. After earning her Bachelor’s of Music, she continued her education in Ottawa, studying with teachers Timothy Chooi and Donnie Deacon.
Shae-Lynn is also an experienced ensemble player, playing in several string quartets during her undergraduate degree. She was also a member of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra for three seasons, and more recently, has played with the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra. As a music teacher, Shae-Lynn has several years of experience teaching violin, piano, and flute in St. John’s, Ottawa, and Kitchener-Waterloo. She is excited to continue sharing her knowledge of music as a member of the Sound Factory Music School starting in 2024.
